Amy Gillett Bikeway
In March 2012, the State Government announced funding of $2 million to construct Stage 3 (Charleston to Mount Torrens) of the Amy Gillett Bikeway. This will extend the existing bikeway a further 7 kilometres with 17 kms of a total of 32 kms constructed. The remaining stages to Mt Pleasant are currently unfunded.
Construction will be undertaken in two phases:
First phase: Charleston to Hartmann Road and Lenger Road to Oval Road, Mount Torrens to be completed in the first half of 2013.
Second phase: between Hartmann Road and Lenger Road to be completed in the second half of 2013.
The multi-use bikeway will cater for cyclists, pedestrians and horse riders, and will provide economic and social benefits to the communities within the broader Adelaide Hills area.
Works to clear the bikeway corridor will begin shortly. Main construction work is expected to start in mid to late March 2013 (weather permitting) with the first phase expected to be completed by the end of June 2013.
