Works adjacent Festival Drive
The Festival Drive loop road (adjacent the rail corridor) has been reopened and is being managed as a single lane contra-flow by traffic lights. This temporary condition will be in place for at least six months while construction proceeds. Pedestrian access is provided via a separate gantry. See plans below:
ACC Redevelopment Traffic Restrictions Attachment A [487kb]
ACC Redevelopment Traffic Restrictions Attachment B [416kb]
In the next few weeks, specific works will alter the operation of this contra flow. This includes:
(a) During daylight hours from Wednesday 2 May (7.30am) through to Friday 4 May (4.30pm), drilling works will be occurring into the road west of the bridge. This will require the traffic light operation to be periodically overridden by flagmen.
(b) On the weekend of 19/20 May, the Festival Drive loop road will be closed to all vehicle traffic whilst piling works occur. This will be from 6am Saturday to 11pm Sunday. Pedestrian access will still be maintained.
We ask that drivers observe the signals and direction of the traffic controller and have patience through the work zone.
Morphett Street Bridge
The kerbside lane of Morphett Street Bridge city-bound will be closed to motorists until approximately mid to late 2013. This is to facilitate works necessary to construct the Stage 1 podium over the rail track which will abut the bridge. Pedestrian access across the bridge is diverted to the opposite side. Cyclists and motorists share the inner lane.
Works adjacent North Terrace
North Terrace between the Morphett Street bridge and the Intercontinental Hotel will be periodically controlled by traffic controllers until 2014 to facilitate truck movements associated with piling. Signage will be in place, and we ask that motorists and pedestrians observe the changed conditions and travel safely through the worksite.
Train services
The nature of the building work associated with the redevelopment is such that at any one time two of the Adelaide Railway Station’s nine platforms must be closed to allow for construction works. To minimise the overall impact of this limited platform space, the decision has been made to provide alternate services for Grange and Tonsley line services for a period of approximately 12 months from 27 February 2012.
